Our Focus Areas

As the legal entitlement to all-day care for primary-school-age children comes into force step by step from the 2026/27 school year onward, further developing our all-day school is increasingly coming into focus. For us, this is an opportunity to keep developing our all-day offer and to link lessons, learning time, support and childcare even more closely together.

In this context, we also want to further develop our current homework policy and homework support. Learning and practice time should be integrated more into the school day and given appropriate pedagogical support. In this way, we want to support children specifically in learning independently while also easing the daily routine for families at home.

In doing so, we are picking up on the direction set by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW): integrating learning time sensibly into all-day school and linking learning, support and childcare more closely together.

As part of the Grundschule Masterplan, we are paying particular attention to German and Mathematics. The state of NRW's subject initiatives support teachers in developing their teaching further and in supporting children even more specifically.

The focus here is on the key foundations: reading, writing and arithmetic. These skills are crucial for children's further education. Our goal is to support every child in developing these fundamental skills securely, giving them the best possible educational opportunities.
